Anemometers Testimonials

Here is a collection of delightful email surprises from our customers (unsolicited!).
Updated December 2011...

Thank you!

December, 2011

I received the Inspeed Vortex Pole Mount Anemometer December 25, 2011 as a Christmas present, I completed the simple installation and within minutes it was working great. The first night it clocked a wind gust of 117.5 mph.

I attached a photo of the meter.

We get very high winds living next to the Rocky Mountains and now I can keep track of how hard the wind is blowing, I love it!

Thank you Inspeed.

This is from a potential customer in Syria that I had to turn away because we are not allowed to sell to anyone or any entitiy in Syria...

Not 100% sure why I am putting this here other than to spread the word that there are good people everywhere in the world...

your country is very nice and your people were very friendly to us
regretfully, however, our governments are not on good terms and I am forbidden from selling anything to anyone in Syria...

I'm looking for another anemometer and found your web site, again.  I
wanted to tell you that I already own a pole mounted anemometer from
you.  I've had it for about 5 years, and it works great!  The highest
wind speed I've recorded with it was 121 mph.  I live in the mountains
of central Colorado, and we can get some fierce winds here.  I put my
sensor on top of a 10 foot conduit mounted in a tripod on my house
roof.  I have the display mounted on the end of our kitchen counter
where it's easy to see, and quick to get to when we hear some strong
gusts blowing.  I love the quick response time on the display.  It is so
much better for us than the 1 or 2 minute averaged display on so many
other anemometers.  We can see how fast the gusts actually are, in real
time.  And I also love that the display will record average wind speed,
duration, max wind speed, etc.  We used this data, hand recorded every
month, to help with an evaluation of our property for wind generation.
With the help from two years of data from your anemometer we determined
that our place was a great spot for wind generation.

Thanks for making a great product.  The only maintenance we've done
since we bought it was to change the battery in the display about once
every 15-18 months.

Best Regards,
Mike, Colorado

Thanks Lorenzo for the confirmation.  We just wanted to add that our
boat 'neighbours' Roger & Bonnie were installing
their wind pole mount from you folks and we asked about it.  Roger
told us all about it and how to find you folks on the internet.  It
sounds like a great product & we look forward to using it.  Thanks (to
Roger) and to Inspeed.com.

a comment on Replacing the battery and setting WS on a Sigma Sport BC1200:

Very helpful video. Just found out that my anomometer wasn't broken, and that the wheel size was set wrong instead. Very very happy.

August, 2011 - this from one our very biggest fans:

I purchased my first Inspeed from you six years ago in 2005 and it functions perfectly to this day. The quality of the instrument is remarkable for the price - it recorded a 73.3mph gust at my house during the Blizzard of '06 and still functions as loyally as it did when I opened the box. It has sustained ice accretion, temperatures down to -10F, and other winds over 70mph that littered my front lawn with my neighbors' shingles in a Nor'easter back in February of 2010. Based on my station's average wind speeds, the original rotor has spun over 45 million times and to this day records wind data with precision and accuracy.

I have been satisfied with all my subsequent purchases from Inspeed, and I am pleased with the honesty and fairness with which you conduct your business. It's a quality product at a fair price and made locally in Massachusetts.

Thanks!

This one is fun: she bought an anemometer on Amazon for her husband, and it was not quite right, so she returned it... No problem... Then came this email:

Thank you so much for your consideration.  I'm going to leave great feedback on your business.  What a positive experience this has been!  The package will be mailed today - USPS (priority).

This must be a record...

Lorenzo my anemometer made it 50777 miles before something knocked one of the cups off going down the road at 70mph  What a great little anemometer.

Just placed an order for a new Unit from you - After 6 years of on the road use with the old system I finally wore it into the ground. [...] The unit can be viewed on the pickup in the picture towards the bottom on this page: http://www.pullmangeosciences.org/weather/5b.htm (btw Dave on the west coast also uses one of your units for the in the field rocket launches.)

"I was the stormtracker featured on the Katie Couric (CBS Evening News) Show the other night. I was 500 feet from the vortex of the Lone Grove tornado. Nine people died in this tornado strike. Wind speeds at the vortex were estimated (by degree of damage) to be at approximately 170 mph. At my position, 500 feet away, I measured wind speeds at 133.5 mph, with your magnetic mount anemometer. My truck literally was wind blown across the wet pavement, but you anemometer stayed put. Just thought I would pass that on."

By the way, thanks for a great and convenient product.  I'm a Ham radio storm spotter with Lincoln/Lancaster County Emergency Management and it's great to be able to give accurate reports.  Some of our spotters use hand-held meters, but I've never been too keen about putting my hand up in the air during a thunderstorm!

I had the mag mount for a year now and I'm very happy with your
product!  It is a perfect set up for me. I'm a SKYWARN storm spotter and
it's great to have something I can just put on the car when I need it and
take it back off when I'm done! So far I had 55 mph wind readings, but
will have to see what this hurricane season brings for Florida.  Thank you
for a great product at a reasonable price!!!!

APRIL 2007
I have been testing the VORTEX POLE MOUNT ANEMOMETER now for about a month.
It has been Mounted to my Volvo Truck and has about 10,000 miles on it's odometer.
and reached a peak speed of 167.8 Mph heading into a gust front in Nebraska this last week.
It has been mounted on the truck as you see it from Everett,Wa. to the East Coast (Long Is. Ny) out to the western part of the Mid West back to the East Coast (NYC) and now back in Everett, Wa.
(note in the retracted position during travel) in the photo it is in the raised position during a 34 Hr. Break
It has held up great with no problems (other than the Boss does not like it on the truck) but I will be using it now for severe weather and try to give it a better life it has been through a lot of punishment.
The VORTEX POLE MOUNT ANEMOMETER »  Endured Freezing Rain, Snow, Hail and was struck by lightning and no damage to the anemometer.

You definitely have a superior product. It has been a pleasure testing your product and look forward to working with you in the future.

Vortex Storm Chaser Magnetic Mount Anemometer Just for information, I recorded a 91MPH max speed on the vortex on
April 7, 2006.  I had an F3 tornado pass 300 feet my south, damaging
numerous homes, including mine.  Over $18,000 in damages.  But the
vortex remained intact!

Thanks,
Michael (of SKYLERT)
Thanks Lorenzo, got it.  The last speeds I recorded here in NM were 70.6 mph a few weeks ago. We’ve had as high as 76.4mph last year. I really love this Inspeed setup I’ve got.
Joe D., Field Maintenance Engineer
Hey gang I got my Inspeed thingy today, and I'm am real happy with it.
It seems very well built. I run StormNet, a very large TV news storm
chase team, and I immediately sent out an email extrolling the virtues
of your product. You should start to get some orders from some of them
very soon! Thanks for the very fine product.

Hi Lorenzo!
Looks like you're batting 1000: you said I'd get it the next day from when I
called and I did! It works perfect by the way. If you want, I can send you a
picture of our project if everything works out!

Grazie mille!
(from Italy)
Thanks for checking and sorry for the trouble. It did come today. I am impressed
with the ruggedness of the Vortex. It works really well. I plan on using it
primarily for evaluating kite flying conditions. I have a light-wind stunt kite
that is not strong enough for anything over 7 m.p.h. When days tend to be
windier than this, I can choose to use a kite rated for higher winds. Also,
after reading your web site, I plan on testing my 1961 Ford Falcon's
speedometer, since the speedometer gear and cable need to be replaced soon.

Thanks again!
Jeff
We are enjoying living and traveling full time in the vehicle, what a marvelous lifestyle-- we were lifetime sailors until I retired and now are hooked on what we are doing-- seeing the country this way is ideal, the National Parks and other sights in this country are just awe-inspiring. To be able to use your product to monitor the winds in places where we have no experience with the weather patterns is such a true treat-- helps to protect the internet dish aand awning.... Thanks, again, and best regards,

Hello, my name is Joe. I reside in Coral Gables Florida just outside of Miami.

Wanted to let you know that my Vortex anemometer recorded 132.9 mph (max speed) during Wilma.  Then apparently at some point, the aluminum pole had buckled to a 45 degree angle from the winds.
Outrageous eh!  I had to reposition it following the storm.  I suppose the winds were really whipping for the metal to bend from the Easterly orientation!  In any case, wanted to thank you for the anemometer.  I am truly satisfied with my vortex.

Take care, Joe W.
November, 2005

INSPEED NOTE: as of November 2005, 132.9 is the highest ever wind speed reported to Inspeed by a customer - let's see who can top that!

Good afternoon.
Wanted to let you guys know that I am embarking on storm season #2 with the Vortex unit you specially designed for me about this time last year.
Since then, the anemometer has experienced an 85MPH straight-line wind, over 10,000 miles of consistent use at around 65-75MPH while driving, .5 and 1" hailstones (it was hit both times - and survived!), and has survived 12 tornadoes.
Thanks a lot for creating this special unit for my vehicle.
Hope all is well with the company.
Steve
Vortex Storm Chaser Magnetic Mount Anemometer I am writing to express my utmost satisfaction with my magnetic auto mount Vortex. Its measured winds of 50 plus m.p.h measured auto speeds in excess of 80 m.p.h and survived rain, sleet, snow, freezing rain, hail, below zero and 90 plus temperatures and is still going strong, truly a great product.

Hello Lorenzo,
the anemometer is indeed a fine piece of High Tech at an
affordable price.

It is turning at a height of 13m above the ground and  continouosly
delivering WindSpeedData since Saturday.
It passed its first functioning test,  we had a heavy storm and lots of snow
over the weekend. I suppose it is made of a PolyOlefine plastic with a waxy surface
that prevents water and snow from clinging to it.  It shines in the sun.
Well, thank you again. I am really satisfied with it and will
higly recommend to others.

I thought you might like this. I was so impressed with your product, I published a review. http://www.rocketreviews.com/reviews/kits/various_inspeed_anemometer.html As soon as I can lay my hands on one of the little displays I will add that to the publication.

Mr. Lorenzo,
Hi, This is David. Sorry I'm so late emailing you. I received my Anemometer from you on Friday. As you know my friend Chris(Appalachia Photographer) received his anemometer on Saturday. I am really enjoying my new wind anemometer. As Chris told you, we tested the magnetic anemometer out to see how much wind it could take and topped his blower out at 198.5 mph. Thanks soo much and we will get you pictures soon. Have a great day. Will be in touch.

-David

I received the Vortex this morning (Friday). I stuck the garden hose in the
ground to bore a hole (cuts through like butter). I took a tree saw and
added it with a pool broom (for brushing the bottom of the pool) and came up
with an awsome adjustable pole. The end that use to hold the saw blade now
holds the Vortex perfectly. I may send a picture later. The eye is expected
to hit in the same spot that Frances did, this time with winds around
120mph, then head straight for Orlando. They "never" are right in projecting
these things, so who knows where it will go, but we were told to expect
winds of 85 to 110 mph.
Randy in Forida

I just wanted to add to the wind speed stories from other users. For the past month my Vortex had clocked max speeds of 85 to 98 mile an hour on the top of my 35 foot sailboat mast. This is all happening in our marina in Yankton, SD. Thankfully the boat was tied off and I was not on it.

Windware data logging software Hi Lorenzo,
Goods received.
All installed and working nicely - both sigma & software working via a
switch.
Very impressed at the product.
Waiting now for the next gale/storm.
Thanks from a happy customer.

Vortex Storm Chaser Magnetic Mount Anemometer BTW-I just want to mention that other than having the rotor fly off, I LOVE
THIS PRODUCT. It makes my storm spotting a lot easier and more accurate. I
have been spreading the word to some of my friends, who may also be ordering
them soon.
My favorite part is the large number of complete strangers who come up to me
and ask what that is on the top of my car!

Good evening Lorenzo;
Your system is much more sensitive to the slightest breeze, even in the morning mist, an occasional
spin would be seen.  As for the degree of error, it seems to be quite close to the speed while traveling down the road in my Suburban.  Will send a photo when I get that also.  Right know I have my Kayak on top with all the other gear.  Well, have to run.

Anemometer tested on Vespa A very late thank you for the prompt sending of zee anemometer!
I will have to test it on my faster scooter (250 cc capable of 75 mph).
On the Yamaha Riva 125cc, it clocked 57 MPH on a windless day, on the
straight road going to see your father.  I wanted to take a video, record
the relationship between your device data and the scooter speedometer,
and create a comparison plot.....but each time I was off, the weather
was not great... it will have to wait for next year!
As you know, during rapid acceleration there is slight overshoot, but
we agree with your data:  At steady speed and during a windless day,
the correlation showed a remarkable precision with a margin of
difference of  2.5% or less.  Really great!  Thank you again.
Henri, MA

Thank You for your prompt service.
My Vortex arrived this morning it's splendid. I have spent all day setting it up in my garden dodging the showers. I found it fascinating reading the advertisements in your packaging. I am still amazed of the Internet and how it makes the world so small. This is the first time I have purchased anything outside the UK.
Many thanks for your help and amazing service.

All the best
Richard.
I can't tell you how much I enjoy your anemometer on my boat. What a great useful tool! It's fantastic and there's quite a number of number of people I have sent to your web site after they've seen it.

Thank you.
Joe
I wanted to let you know that I have been very impressed with your Anemometer. We use it on our sailboat. I have had it for over a year now and it is just as accurate as the day it arrived. Just wanted to say thanks for creating an excellent product and offering it at a reasonable price.
Great job! Jamie Sibley

Thursday morning 103 mph clocked just north of Eufaula, OK on a meso that came almost over head. National weather service advised of windspeeds at 100+ just letting you know it works. Just needed an extra pair of shorts!

I am in very great admiration of your product, I just recieved mine over the weekend and used it on a HAZ-Mat incident Monday. Do you need a rep. in the Chicago land area? I belong to an emnergency managment group and these would be great in a HAZ-Mat truck and for the local fire departments, I plan to spread the word on them for you. I bought mine for storm work, but realized the importance of them for HAZ-Mat as well. Please let me know, I'd be glad to help sell your product.
Thank You.
Dan Lyon, IL
  It worked wonderfully!!!
I saw two other units like mine out in Western OK today!  Congrats!
I measured inflow winds into a rotating wall cloud of 42MPH... Very
impressive.
Again, thanks... I couldn't ask for better customer service!

  Hi Lorenzo,
I got my pole-mount wind speed indicator. Is this something you manufacture?
If it is, it's something to be proud of. It's a work of art!

Well, an "A" grade was received on the science project - thanks again for
your help with acquisition of materials. All of my attempts to construct a
unit similar to what I purchased from you met with too many problems so I'm
glad you were "on the web". We'll keep you in mind if any future projects
require such equipment.

Ted (glad it's over!!)

  Hi Lorenzo

Received Vortex in Florida OK. Many thanks for your great service. Arrived

Just wanted to tell you how happy I am with your pole mount aneometer and the BC1200. I'm a ham operator and it great to get the wind speed incase I need to lower the motorized tower. It may save me much more than I paid for your device. It would be nice to have an alarm that would trigger when the wind reached the critical tower limit. I suppose a sampling of the voltage being transmitted from the cups could be devised. Have you seen such a circuit? Thank you for providing this great device for a reasonable price. George, Washington

Hi, I bought one of your pole mount anemometer (love it, works great!) and put it on/in our boat house.  The recording unit (display?)  will endure temps down to 10 or 15 below zero.  We ice sail when the water is hard enough.
Thanks, Jim
